OPEN DATED - 3 hr 1-1 Introduction to Lightroom Classic workshop. There is a huge amount of online resources that can assit you with Lightroom the problem is that they all assume you know the basics. This workshop will teach you the basics and you will leave with video tutorials of all the content so you can practise at home after. Sessions are held in or around Cambridge. If you would like a different location this can be arranged but there will be an additional charge of £0.45 per mile from my home. Book this either as a gift or for yourself, just get in touch to arrange a mutually convenient date.

Open dated voucher for Kingfisher hide workshop. Workshop has a max of 3 students in the pond hide with experienced wildife photographer and tutor Laura Galbraith. Session runs from 7.30am to 3pm. Students need to be confidently shooting on Aperture priority and have at least a 300mm lens to make the most of this session. A further £100 per person is payable directly to the hide on the day of the session to cover the hide cost and this is not included in the voucher.

Zoom Training & Mentoring

12 months of group Zoom mentoring sessions. One session each month lasting approximately 2 hrs. The first part of each session will be some sort of information from me. I have a lsit of topics that we can delve into some of which are light, focal length, angles, eye mapping, visual weight, focus, movement, colour etc. Which ones we cover will be lead by the group. The second part of each session will be a collective image review where each student will be able to submit up to 8 images each month. If you want to push your photography to the next level then this is the perfect course for you. Group size will 6-8 students as this gives enough to make the group cohesive and not to many to ensure everyone gets time for feedback on images. Dates for the sessions are 9th January, 6th Februaury, 6th March, 10th April, 8th May, 26th June, 17th July, 14th August, 11th September, 9th October, 13th November, 11th December. Timing 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

Zoom Training & Mentoring

The content of our traditional Introduction to Photography - Movement workshop delivered as a series of 6 Zoom sessions. Each session will start with a theory presentation that often contains a simple practical task, followed by image review of student’s homework exercises. Having the content delivered over six sessions means that the learning is broken into more bite sized chunks and the practical and homework exercises are designed to build on the theory knowledge. We need a minimum of 4 students and there is a maximum of 6 per course to ensure everyone gets all the assistance and support that they need. Dates for this course are 11th, 18th, 25th Feb, 4th, 11th March and 1st April. Each Zoom session will last approximately 2 hours and starts at 7.30pm.
Introduction to Photography - Part 1 - Get off Auto

Our traditional Get Off Auto workshop with a maximum of 4 students. We will meet in a coffe shop in Cambridge for the how to part of the session before heading off around the city for the practical part of the session. The small group size ensures every student gets the assistance they require. The session runs from 9am to 12.00pm

Introduction to Photography - Part 2 - Movement

If you have done a Part 1 Get Off Auto or are comfortable with the basics, this 3hr 1-1 workshop teaches you how to photograph moving subjects to freeze or intentionally blur movement, how to deal with tricky lighting situations with the use of metering or fill in flash, how and when to use shutter priority mode, plus lots more to take your photography to the next level. Location of the session can be any suitabel venue in or around Cambridge.

Travel and street photowalk starting from the Michaelhouse Cafe in Cambridge. We will spend time capturing the architecture, people in passing, odd details and intriguing signage in the iconic city of Cambridge. Limited to just 5 students this is the perfect opportunity to develop your photographic eye to take the best advantage of the photo opportunities that come your way. Photowalk runs from 1.30pm to 5pm and is suitable for any camera including a modern smartphone.

Using the flowers, fauna and structures of the Botanic Gardens in Cambridge we will look at composition and how to get beautiful close up images. Suitable for any camera and lens combination but if you have a macro lens or extention tubes then bring these along as this will give you more options when taking images of the flowers. The presentation part of this workshop is delivered via zoom at 7pm on the 18th July followed by the practical part at the Botanic Gardens from 1pm on the 19th. Limited to just 6 students
Birds of Prey & Action

The perfect opportunity to take the next step to improve your photography of birds in flight and capturing portraits in natural surroundings. This workshop is split into two sessions the first is a Zoom pressentation at 7pm on the 13th September where I will explain how to take images of the birds both in flight and perched. The second is the practical session at the venue on the 14th September which runs from 2pm to 6pm to take advanteg of the best light to photograph the birds.
