Our first day begins in the hotel at 10.30am. Those that are staying at the hotel can check in and relax with a drink while meeting other fellow attendees. An introductory meeting will follow this with your tutor who will explain all details for the weekend and discuss necessary skills and settings for the day ahead. Then we will head out to put theory into practice and capture some stunning shots.
For those staying at the hotel, each evening will provide an opportunity to socialise with the tutor and other delegates in the hotel bar. One evening (with the best weather forecast! )will be spent practising low light photography just outside our hotel where the distant lights of Port Talbot Steelworks create a dramatic scene for night time photography.
Our programme will remain flexible subject to local conditions; it will include a drive with stops across the stunning landscape of the Brecon Beacons, this will also include tackling the challenging subject of photographing birds in flight as we visit the Red Kite feeding centre at Llanddeusant. We will witness and photograph the spectacular display of red kites swooping to feed at very close quarters, in the natural surroundings of the Brecon Beacon National Park.
Also included in the weekend will be a day taking a series of stunning waterfalls including those at Aberdulais Copper, Iron and Tin works which will provide a start to photographing our industrial past as well as waterfalls; then we will move further up the Neath valley to capture some stunning photos of waterfalls which are included in this course for the first time.
A further day, newly added this year will be spent travelling to the wonderful Glamorgan Heritage Coast with its fantastic seascapes and geology. This will include visits to Ogmore Castle, Dunraven and Nash Point lighthouse.
Finally and probably on the fourth morning, there will be a chance to take some shots around Port Talbot, not only of the imposing TATA Steelworks but also of one of the longest expanses of beach in the country as you gather some photos across Swansea Bay and the impact of human activity on this stunning stretch of sandy beach.
Alternative provision may be introduced if weather conditions dictate, however as this is an outdoor programme you should be prepared for all eventualities both for yourselves and your camera equipment. Spare clothes and equipment can be left in the minibus at all times, but this is of course at your own risk.
Times: The first day starts at the hotel with an informal gathering between 10.30 and 11.00, The rest of the timings will be flexed following discussions with the group and the final day will end at approximately 1.00pm back at the hotel.
This is a fantastic opportunity to spend 4 days focusing on developing your photography skills on a wide range of popular subjects including Landscape, Seascape, Low-Light, Wildlife and Water photography.
Cancellation - It is policy not to refund in the event of cancellation, alternatives may be offered where possible but you are strongly advised to take out cancellation insurance for this course.
