Day One
We will meet at 10.00 am in the hotel foyer. We will then board our mini bus and take the short drive to Exbury gardens. Wonderful spring blooms in this splendid location await us. Rhododendrons in particular should be spectacular in this 200-acre garden. You will have plenty of opportunity to photograph moving water, close up or macro shots of flowers, beautiful reflections and much more. Your tutor will be on hand to offer tips and advice. Lunch can be taken in one of the garden cafes and by mid afternoon we plan to move on to the picturesque village of Beaulieu where you can take some wonderful shots alongside the tidal estuary of the Beaulieu River. There will be time to take afternoon tea together before heading back to our hotel.
In the evening there will be the option to go out and take some low light photographs at Hatchet’s pond.
Day 2
Our second day is to be based around the spectacular Mudeford Quay and will include the short ferry journey across the harbour to the sand spit which is home to some of the most photogenic and expensive beach huts in the country. Also, here there is the chance to get shots across to the Needles on the Isle of Wight and the bird life is very varied and offers ample photographic opportunity. Walk past the beach huts and head up the short flight of steps to Hengistbury head, which again provides some wonderful panoramic opportunities.
Once more evening activities will be arranged subject to demand but there will certainly be the chance to chat with your tutor and fellow photographers. As the hotel is so close to the coast we may be able to get some seascape sunset shots, subject to suitable weather conditions.
Day 3
The third day will be spent photographing the landscapes, flora and fauna of the New Forest; these could include deer, ponies, pigs and highland cattle. The Spring rhododendron colours should also be vibrant at this time of year. This will be based in the region of Beaulieu, Brockenhurst and Burley as well as an attempt to see the deer at Bolderwood.
As with all our photography events the Going Digital tutor will be on hand to offer guidance and advice and to help you capture the best images from your short break. There will also be good opportunity to view and discuss your images with the tutor and as a group.
Please note the schedule over the three days may change according to client requirement and weather conditions.
