I've been a keen photographer from about the age of 12 (45ish years ago) when my Grandmother gave me a Box Brownie! My next camera was a Minolta that used a 110 film and I can claim to have a taken selfie with it in 1974...was that a first? I entered the world of professional photography in 2013 and started off straight into the deep end by doing wedding photography. It was probably the steepest learning curve I've ever dealt with but after 7 years now, I absolutely love it and would never go back to working in an office. Since then I have had the opportunity to photograph not just weddings but also many different types of events across the north of England that added to my experience and knowledge as a photographer.
In August 2019 I took the decision to become the owner and tutor of Going Digital North East. This fitted in well with my existing business as weddings are mostly summer and Going Digital workshops are mostly held at the other times of year. At my first workshop which was at Walworth Castle Bird of Prey Centre with 10 students, I was nervous as well as excited. All went very well with the birds behaving perfectly and the students getting some great photographic opportunities. Living and working in one of the most beautiful areas of the UK, I am looking forward to developing landscape, water and wildlife workshops in locations that include the Farne Islands, Holy Island, Northumberland, Newcastle and of course, County Durham and Teesdale. I also love my Going Digital workshops at Northumberland Country Zoo and Washington Wetlands Centre. Hopefully I will get to meet you at one of fabulous locations in the near future.
