Red Squirrel Hide
Meet at: Hawes Countryside Museum Car Park, DL8 3NTRED SQUIRRELS & AUTUMN COLOURS - PHOTOGRAPHY HIDE. Join photographer Kate at a superb private hide in North Yorkshire to spend 5 hours photographing red squirrels. Limited to just 4 people, we have exclusive use of 2 hides, one in the woodland and another by the reflection pool (the only one in England) where you can photograph the squirrels playing by the water, we will also have the opportunity to photograph them on the jumping platform depending on how they feel on the day (catching them in mid flight). The location takes us on a 7 min steep walk through rough terrain and Photography Skill Level 3 (knowledge of moving subjects, using manual or shutter priority) is required - for more detailed information click on the Book Now
This is a skill level 3 workshop.
The location is near Hawes DL8 3NT and we meet at 8.30am where you will be driven to the site, which is then a 7 minute walk on rough terrain.
Lens coverage of 100 - 400mm is recommended to cover all eventualities (though the squirrels do come really close) and you will need a sturdy tripod and cable release if you wish to try and photograph the jumping squirrels.
There are no toilet facilities (so it is back to nature) and there is no phone coverage. The session finishes about 1.30pm when the squirrels tend to disappear.
