Learn how easy it is to use your camera to capture the varying moods of water in your photographs. We'll take you to picturesque locations with ample opportunities to get great shots, with lots of great advice from experienced landscape photographers, and the chance to review and discuss your photos as a group.

How to vary shutter speeds to freeze or blur motion
When and how to use ND filters to make sure you get stunning shots even in difficult conditions
How to use polarising filters when photographing water
How to improve your images with good composition
Where: Commencing with a briefing to make sure that you know how to set up your camera for the day, before venturing out to your locations for the day where your tutor will take you to the best vantage points to capture stunning images, and be on hand to answer your questions and discuss your images with you throughout the day.
Cameras: DSLR, Mirrorless Compact System, Four-Thirds.
Equipment: To get the most from this workshop you will require a tripod (full height). Optional equipment - ND filters, polarising filter, remote shutter release.
Previous Experience: To get the most from this workshop you should have attended our beginners photography course or be confident shooting in Aperture Priority and using Exposure Compensation.
Times: Full day, usually 10 am to 4 pm but please check your joining instructions.
Water and Its Moods in The Lakes - Where better to explore the possibilities of capturing stunning shots of fast moving water and mirror-like reflections than the most picturesque surroundings of The Lake District.
On this workshop, you will learn how to create and expose for those stunning ‘smooth water’ images, how to use polarising and ND filters, and we also look at the art of composition and how to best capture the the beauty of The Lakes.
There will be a Zoom discussion in the week leading up to the workshop, which is usually on a Wednesday evening, with the practical part of the workshop, which lasts around four hours, taking place in the morning of 17th October at Buttermere. Locations are however negotiable if you have any particular preferences. There will be plenty of time on the day to review your images, however there is also the option of a short personal review over Zoom.
Joining instructions will be emailed to you around a week beforehand, so that you know where to meet, what time and what to bring with you.
If you have ND filters please bring them along although a small number can be borrowed on the day. You will need to bring along a tripod to make the most of this workshop.
