This course builds on our Get off Auto workshop, although this is not an essential requirement, with lots of hands-on photography throughout the day. We'll guide you through the key features of your camera and new techniques to help you become more creative. Take home detailed handouts and exercises that you can try again later, to perfect your skills and ensure you get the very best from your day.

Action photography from children at play to sports and panning for motorsport shots
Creative use of movement, e.g. capturing the power of waterfalls
An in-depth look at Exposure and how light affects your images
Different metering modes to make the most of the light conditions
Use of different focus modes to allow movement to be captured as required
How to take good photographs in low light and other difficult conditions
Creative effects to include long exposures and Intentional Camera Movement (ICM)
Cameras: DSLR, Mirrorless, Compact System (CSC), Four-Thirds, Bridge, Superzoom.
Where: Commencing indoors, taking an in-depth look at your camera with the day being interspersed with a series of practical activities to reinforce your learning as you go along. finally a review of some of your images with plenty of time for your questions.
Main Points Covered:
Shutter Priority - we'll show you how to use shutter priority to precisely control your shutter speed
Shutter Speed - we explain why you might want to use a slow shutter speed, how and when to use it and the effects you can create - so we explain how to freeze movement to capture wildlife, children, sports events and action
Focussing - we'll show you what focus modes you have available and explain when and how you would use them
Metering - we look at how the camera meters and creates the exposure, what metering modes your camera has, how to change them and when to use them
Jpeg v RAW - we explain the differences o you can choose the one that works best for you
Buttons and Dials - we'll help you understand what they do, how to change them and how and when to use them so that you have a better understanding of and feel more confident with your camera
Group Size: A maximum of 10 students per tutor.
Times: Full day, usually 10 am to 4 pm but please check your booking and joining instructions in case of any variations.
Previous Experience: to get the most from this workshop, if you are a complete beginner you may benefit from having attended our 'Introduction to Photography Get Off Auto' workshop.

Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 6QNIf you'd like to master capturing movement in your photography, be it freezing movement or slowing it down to create amazing effects, then this is the workshop for you!.
This workshop will have a maximum of 5 students will last between 5-6 hours starting at 10:15am set within the beautiful grounds of Tatton Park in Cheshire.
This workshop is both formal learning and field based activities, you'll leave with plenty of useful reference materials.
A DSLR is available to borrow on the day, subject to availability
