YorkshireBIRDS OF PREY PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Step inside the private grounds of a beautiful 18th-century home for a unique birds of prey photography experience.
Set within The Falconer’s Garden in Snaith, near Goole, mature trees, old brickwork, rustic fences, an historic barn and hidden garden corners provide wonderful natural backdrops for photographing a variety of birds of prey.
Alongside photography tuition from Kate, experienced falconer Kira will share her knowledge of the birds, their personalities and behaviour, adding something really special to the experience.
With a maximum of just six photographers, we’ll photograph the birds in different locations around the garden before finishing with the challenge of birds in flight.
Online Training
Before the workshop, we’ll meet online for a relaxed Zoom training session, usually at 6pm on the Wednesday before, covering camera settings, focusing techniques and photographing birds in flight.
The session is recorded if you can’t attend live or would like to watch it again.
On the Day
We’ll meet at Snaith Railway Station, where free parking is available, before taking the short two-minute walk to The Falconer’s Garden.
We’ll start with coffee, a chat and an introduction from Kate and Kira before heading into the garden. Kate will be on hand throughout to help with camera settings, composition and technique, while Kira will work with the birds and share her knowledge along the way.
We’ll finish with birds in flight, putting the techniques from the online training into practice.
Skill Level
Skill Level 2 – Intermediate
You should have a basic understanding of aperture, shutter speed and ISO and be comfortable changing your camera settings.
Equipment
A 200mm or longer zoom lens is recommended, along with spare batteries and memory cards.
Terrain & Accessibility
The garden has uneven ground, including old cobbles, garden paths and natural surfaces. You should be comfortable walking approximately two minutes from the station and moving around the garden while carrying your equipment.
Final joining details will be emailed before the workshop.
