INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOGRAPHY, GET OFF AUTO – LEEDS - Got a camera but still find yourself reaching for Auto? Or perhaps you've tried changing the settings, got completely confused and wondered why photography needs to sound quite so complicated?

This friendly, practical workshop is designed to help you understand your camera, take control of your settings and start creating the photographs you want to take — without drowning you in technical jargon.

We'll explain everything in plain English and, most importantly, give you plenty of time to put it into practice.

The day combines relaxed learning in our photography studio in Morley, Leeds, with practical photography in Churwell's award-winning urban woodlands, where we'll head out with our cameras and start using your new skills for real.

With a maximum of just FOUR photographers, you'll get plenty of individual help and support throughout the day. There are no silly questions and no expectation that you should already know what all those buttons on your camera do — that's exactly what we're here to help with.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have a much better understanding of how your camera works, the confidence to move away from Auto and, most importantly, the skills to get out and start enjoying your photography.

You'll also leave with useful reference materials to help you continue practising at home.

Time: 10.30am–4pm

Location: Morley, Leeds

Group size: Maximum 4 photographers

Don't own a camera yet?

No problem. If you're thinking about buying one but haven't decided what you need, we have loan cameras available free of charge, subject to availability. Just leave us a note when you book.

Accessibility & terrain: This workshop takes place in our small home photography studio and nearby urban woodland. The studio is not wheelchair accessible and steps are involved. The outdoor practical session includes walking on woodland paths which may be uneven or muddy depending on the weather. If you have any accessibility or mobility requirements, please get in touch before booking and we'll be happy to discuss whether the workshop will be suitable for you.
